Walls, Published Today 14.01.2021 Friday Flash Fiction

She paced the cell’s cold floor.
“I Murdered Frank. We slept in the same bed, but my dreams were not his dreams. He came home drunk and beat me. I waited until he was asleep and slit his throat.”
Voiceless walls trapped her like a tomb. Fear’s darkness surrounded every waking moment.
“Twenty years I’ve been here. You’re part of my hate now, but not my soul. I’m going to get out. The warden said the parole board will release me this week. I don’t know if I should believe them. What will I do?”
The gray walls didn’t answer.
